The upcoming facelifted version of the Mahindra Scorpio was spied testing once again. Though many pictures have been doing rounds of the internet, this time, the spotter, Neil Murali, recorded a video of the facelifted Scorpio. The car was spotted near Ashawadi in Nashik, Maharashtra and as before, the car was heavily camouflaged.
Though there aren’t many changes to the design structure of the SUV, the heavy camouflage indicates a few cosmetic changes to the SUV. According to previous reports, the front grille will feature thick vertical slats, similar to the one seen on the Bolero. The front bumper is revised and the bonnet has an integrated scoop. The tail lamps have been revamped and will sport a rectangular design.
Inside, the seating layout will remain unchanged, though the instrumentation panel will be revamped, with a possible inclusion of a touchscreen infotainment system. Many parts will be borrowed from XUV500’s parts bin as Mahindra wants to give the Scorpio a more upmarket feel. This might indicate that Mahindra plans to sell this facelift in the upper price bracket alongside its current range. The Scorpiomay retain its same 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine, though the power-torque figures might be raised from 120bhp and 290Nm of torque to 140bhp and 330Nm of torque, as in the XUV500.
Scorpio has been one of Mahindra’s top-selling models for over 10 years now. It has received multiple facelifts over these years, and an all-new Scorpio is expected around 2015-16. Till then Mahindra plans to keep the Scorpio ‘fresh’ with this facelift.
