The passenger vehicle market these days is seeing a lot of activity. Adding to the list is Mahindra with the launch of a nine seater version of the Xylo called the D2 Maxx for Rs7.12 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The MPV is available in BS3 emission standard and has been targeted at the fleet market as well as tour and travel operators.
The nine seats (including the driver’s) are believed to be courtesy the side-facing seats in the third row. The rest of the features are the same as its standard D2 variant including the engine line-up and underpinnings. The D2 Maxx gets a 2.5-litre diesel mill that produces 95bhp and 220Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
Commenting on the launch of the D2 Maxx, Vivek Nayer, chief marketing officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “The Xylo D2 MAXX with the mDI CRDe engine is a variant of the Xylo, which delivers great mileage, low maintenance and maximum space, making it a popular choice with the tour and travel segment. Today, we are delighted to offer our customers the nine seats option with side-facing rear seats – a feature preferred by the tour and travel sector.”
With the launch of the nine-seater Xylo D2 Maxx Mahindra hopes to redefine the tour and travel segment for passenger movement in semi-urban towns.
