The Xylo compact or the mini-Xylo has been in the news for a year and Mahindra had announced its launch around Diwali, which is the festive month. The Indian utility vehicle manufacturer has been conducting immense rounds of testing on this compact version of the Xylo and one of our team members caught one of these test mules on lens, while in action.
So far, we all have been assuming the Xylo compact to be a 5-seat, but there is a possibility that Mahindra has kept a sideways facing third row, to accomodate two more people. Though, we aren't sure of this yet. The compact UV has also been spotted with a wheel on the rear door and sometimes, the wheel has tucked away under the body.
The wheels appear smaller in profile, and the shortened boot will have space comparable with hatchbacks. Power is expected to run from a downsized version the 1.5-litre diesel currently doing duty in the Logan. If it displaces less than 1.4 litres, it gives Mahindra another excise cut to contribute towards the low price tag.
