- First BEV from Mahindra
- Underpinned by new INGLO platform
Mahindra is gearing up to launch its first BEV later this year and that’s expected to be XUV.e8. This will then be followed by XUV.e9 in April 2025 which has been spotted doing the rounds, albeit still in a camouflaged guise.
The XUV.e9 will be Mahindra’s first BEV (Born electric vehicle), underpinned by its new INGLO platform. It’s a coupe SUV expected to offer a range of 500 km and have a dual-motor AWD package in at least one version.
However, the XUV.e9’s main selling point will be that it will be the first to showcase some new systems Mahindra is developing for its future cars. The likes of which include a new HUD with augmented display, EV specific sound package being developed by AR Rahman and a new EV-specific connected car package.
Mahindra will have a lot riding on this car as it will be their answer to the Tata Curvv EV and will be their second player in the burgeoning D-segment EV fight. This is a space that, over the next two years, will see the entry of players like the Maruti eVX, Toyota Urban Sport, Honda Elevate EV, new MG ZS EV, Tata Harrier EV, and Tata Sierra EV.
