- Is the electric version of the XUV700
- Based on INGLO platform
A prototype of the Mahindra XUV.e8 electric SUV was recently spotted in Mumbai revealing some additional details of the upcoming EV.
The XUV.e8 maintains the overall silhouette of the XUV700, but its electric nature is evident from its fascia. The slab-like bumpers without prominent air intakes and ADAS sensors provide quick confirmation. However, the vertically stacked headlamp units are a part of the design Mahindra has filed a patent for. The car also boasts a connected LED bar as seen on many EVs today. Alas, the rear section remains identical to that of the current XUV700.
Speaking of patents, the carmaker has also filed one for the new dashboard design with a triple screen. This car along with the XUV.e9 will be equipped with it. Moreover, this car’s interior boasts a two-spoke steering similar to the one in the new Tata Safari. The XUV.e8's centre console however remains conventional with an automatic gear selector and a dial for the driving modes.
Powertrain options of the Mahindra XUV.e8
The Mahindra XUV.e8, like the carmaker's other electric SUVs, will based on the brand's INGLO platform. This EV is expected to be powered by a single or dual-motor set-up and use an 80kWh battery pack. The power output rating has not been announced by the automaker yet.
