- New flagship from Mahindra that will be launched in festive season
- Based on the latest generation G4 Rexton
- Will be offered only with diesel power
- Likely to be called the XUV700
The soon-to-be-launched new flagship SUV from Mahindra has been spotted by an avid reader of CarWale. There is minimal camouflage covering the car spotted testing in Delhi. Likely to be called the XUV700, this SUV, when launched, will be a re-badged version of the G4 Ssangyong Rexton that was launched in 2017.
It was unveiled to the Indian market at the 2018 Auto Expo and is a full generational change for the SUV. The silhouette is the same as the old car but most of the design elements are new to the vehicle. This vehicle which has been spotted in the photos is still the Rexton itself as the Mahindra model sports a different grille and will obviously have the Mahindra badging.
Like the international spec model, here too, the interiors are beige and black. This is expected to continue for the India spec model. This car is expected to be offered with diesel power only and in this case, a 2.2-litre which is now tuned to produce 187bhp/420Nm. There’s a six-speed manual as well as a six-speed automatic on offer but only the latter is expected to come to India.
This vehicle is Mahindra’s answer to the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X, Ford Endeavour and the soon-to-be-launched latest generation Honda CR-V (that was also shown at Delhi 2018).
