- Mahindra will position the XUV700 as their flagship offering.
- The rebadged G4 Rexton SUV will get many personalisation options for the customers.
- It will be sold through the same Mahindra showrooms but with a separate space under the same roof.
Mahindra will be launching the new rebadged G4 Rexton in India soon and it might be called the XUV700. With Mahindra also planning to set up a premium set of dealerships similar to the Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa, the flagship SUV will also be offered with a wide range of customisation options.
The customisation options will not be restricted to merely stickers or colours. Instead, it will now include a wider range of options from interior colours to upholstery materials. Mahindra aims to leverage the G4 Rexton as the company’s gateway into luxury space and offer customisation options to match the likes of luxury carmakers. The carmaker might also provide a digital configurator at the outlet with all the customisation options that helps customers arrive at a package of their choosing. This will make Mahindra’s flagship standout from its direct rivals.

The official name of the rebadged Rexton is likely to be announced closer to its launch. Powering the XUV700 will be a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that will generate 185bhp of power and 420Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to a seven-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.
The Mahindra-badged Rexton was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Based on a ladder-frame chassis, the new model is considerably larger than the older generation model. The SUV gets a tweaked grille which is in-line with Mahindra’s design philosophy. On the inside, the new G4 XUV700 will get leather upholstery, a 9.2-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, 360-degree camera, a seven-inch LCD instrument cluster and cooled seats amongst other features.
