- This is the second update to the XUV500 since its introduction.
- The facelift gets new fascia, revised rear and a slightly more premium cabin.
- Expected price – Rs 12.5 lakhs to Rs 19 lakhs.
Mahindra is all set to launch the new and updated XUV500 in India tomorrow. This is the second major facelift for the flagship SUV since its launch back in 2011 along with an upgrade in 2015. The 2018 Mahindra XUV500 will get a redesigned fascia with a new grille and revised signature headlights. The tail lights will be more modern while the cabin will be slightly more premium than before.
As seen in the spied pictures, the radiator grille of the refreshed XUV500 is highlighted by chrome inserts. The headlights have been tweaked and get projectors with LED day-time-running-lights. The fog lamp design appears to be the same as on the current car but there is a subtle reduction of chrome around it. The tail lights are triangular in shape and now extends to the tailgate instead of being wrap-around.
The overall profile remains the same since this is just a facelift and not a generation change. There will be a new design of the alloys as well. On the inside, the new XUV500 gets a soft-touch dashboard-top along with piano black finish on the dashboard. The spy shots from earlier this month also revealed perforated leather upholstery inside the cabin.
Under the hood, we expect the same powertrain as before but with a slight bump in the output. Mahindra might offer the new XUV at a slightly higher price tag than the outgoing model. Prices are expected to be between Rs 12.5 lakhs and Rs 13 lakhs (ex-showroom). It will continue to remain in the fray against the likes of Tata Hexa, Renault Captur, Hyundai Creta (also due for a facelift), entry-level variants of the Jeep Compass and the D-segment sedans.
