Launched back in 2011, the XUV500 has proved to be yet another hit for the Indian auto giant Mahindra. The flagship SUV model has just crossed 1.5 lakh sales mark, including exports.
Designed entirely in-house at Mahindra’s Chennai facility, the XUV500 is Mahindra’s top-of-the-line offering that has been doing well in the market ever since its arrival. The XUV500’s existing avatar was introduced earlier this year as the vehicle’s first major refresh in four years of existence.
One of the major selling points of the XUV500 is the amount of features it comes with. On the top-spec version, Mahindra is offering new-age features such as ambient lighting, new illuminated scuff plates, 7-inch touchscreen system with GPS, electrically adjustable front seats and up to six airbags.
Powered by the proven 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine producing 140bhp and 330Nm, the XUV500 range is priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 16 lakh. The vehicle competes with cars including Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta.
