- To get AMT option in existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines
- AMT component likely to be supplied by Magnetti-Marelli
- Expected to be offered in the top-spec version at a premium of Rs 50,000
Mahindra’s latest offering, the XUV300, makes its debut in the compact SUV segment with an array of creature-comfort features. The vehicle is available in four variants with 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. Although the XUV300 is offered with several segment first features, it misses out on the automatic transmission.
Considering the demand for automatic transmissions lately, Mahindra has decided to introduce an AMT option in both petrol and diesel engines. Currently, Tata Nexon is the only car to get an AMT option in both petrol and diesel. The AMT component for the XUV300 is likely to be supplied by Magnetti-Marelli, which is also used for the TUV300. The automatic option will be available in existing engine options and is likely to be offered only in the top-spec variant.
Although the pricing aspect is not known, for now, we believe that the AMT option is likely to cost an additional Rs 50,000 over the standard top-spec variant.
