Mahindra has revealed in the past that it is working on an electric version of the XUV300 for the domestic as well as international markets. Now, according to a document from Mahindra's European media conference for mid-term plans, the XUV300 Electric will have a range of 300km.
Internally codenamed as S210, the Mahindra XUV300 Electric is expected to be launched in India towards the end of 2020 or early 2021. We can expect it to debut at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo. Reportedly, the XUV300 Electric will be available in two versions - Standard and Extended Range.
The battery pack is being developed by Mahindra Electric in association with LG Chem. The Mahindra XUV300 Electric will feature a high-density Lithium-ion battery pack, which not only offers better thermal efficiency, but also a healthy range. Details related to the electric powertrain are not available as yet. However, knowing Mahindra, we can expect a decently high-performance motor to power the XUV300 Electric.
Design of the Mahindra XUV300 Electric will be similar to the regular version but we can expect it to get differently designed alloy wheels, an aero-grille and redesigned bumpers. Rest of the components will be shared with the standard XUV300. Mahindra has promised an aggressive price tag for the electric SUV and we expect it to start under Rs 10 lakhs (ex-showroom).
