- The all-electric version of the Mahindra XUV300 will hit the streets in the second half of 2020.
- No official powertrain data is available at the moment.
- The test mule appears to be in the early stages of development.
At the launch of the XUV300, Mahindra had promised that an all-electric version of this sub-four metre SUV will arrive in India towards the later half of next year. A test mule of the XUV300 electric, spotted testing recently, revealed that it’s still in the early stages of development.
The pure battery-powered XUV300 will bear most of the design and features of the standard car. Not much is known about its powertrain. However, being an EV, there will be an aero-grille on the revised fascia. Rudimentary headlights were seen on the test mule and the test mule was sitting on steel wheels and not some fancy wheels associated with electric vehicles.
The electric version of the XUV300 is codenamed the S210. Although the electric XUV300 won’t be the first electric vehicle from Mahindra, it will be the first electric sub-four metre SUV in the country. Mahindra is developing a new set of high-powered electric powertrains, according to reports. So the S210 could have more than one powertrain option. The more powerful one, between the two, will have a higher kW/h output for spirited drives, while the other version will be better suited for commuting. The S201 could make use of high-density lithium-ion battery technology co-developed by Mahindra Electric and LG Chem
More details of the electric XUV300 will be revealed in the coming months. So stay tuned to CarWale.
