Mahindra and Mahindra might launch the facelifted XUV 500 for the Indian market on May 25. The SUV gets cosmetic changes and some additional features in the cabin.
The major update to the XUV 500 comes in the form of new headlamps and a chrome grille. The light clusters have been given new S-shaped LED DRLs, similar to the new Scorpio’s LED DRLs. The fog lamps are embellished in a lot of chrome. The car rides on alloy wheels with a new pattern and the rear will get a chrome registration plate enclosure.
The luxury and plush factor has been increased in the cabin with the use of better quality of materials in the interior. The car is expected to come equipped with the latest features and technologies like that of the new Scorpio.
The facelifted XUV 500 is expected to be powered by the same 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine seen under the hood of the present vehicle and produces 140bhp of power.
This is the first major update Mahindra will bring to the XUV 500 since its launch in September 2011. The new upgrades will usher in a fresh look to the company’s flagship offering. It will go up against the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano in the Indian market.
