Mahindra recently launched the all-new XEV 9e electric SUV at an introductory price of Rs. 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries are expected to commence by the end of February or March next year. However, we recently got a chance to get behind its wheel, and here is a picture gallery from the first drive review. It details its exterior design and all its features.
Mahindra XEV 9e picture gallery
The XEV 9e is an electric SUV coupe measuring 4,790mm in length, 1,905mm in width, and 1,690mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,775mm and ground clearance of 207mm.
In terms of its styling, it looks like a concept car with a trapezoidal front fascia. It gets L-shaped LED DRLs connected by an LED light bar.
It has a strong shoulder line with flared wheel arches and a coupe-like roofline. The rear fascia is upright and sports wraparound LED taillights.
This EV rides on 19-inch aero-optimised wheels as standard, however, the carmaker is also offering 20-inch rims as an option.
Inside, the XEV 9e features a triple-screen layout with 12.3-inch displays for a central touchscreen, instrument cluster, and an additional display for the co-driver.
The car has a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and boasts features like a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and a panoramic sunroof.
Moreover, other features include automatic climate control, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Besides, the EV boasts a 665-litre boot as well as a 150-litre frunk.
Other safety features include a 360-degree camera, seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, and a parking assistant system. What's more, the electric SUV has disc brakes all around and a brake-by-wire system.
Powertrain
The Mahindra XEV 9e is based on the INGLO platform like the BE 6e. It's offered with two battery options — 59kWh and 79kWh. The former comes with an electric motor that produces 228bhp and 380Nm of torque, while the larger battery is paired with a single electric motor churning 282bhp and 380Nm of torque. The carmaker claims the 9e sprints from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds and the 79 kWh battery pack has a claimed MIDC range of 656km. It can be charged from 20-80 per cent in 20 minutes using a 175kW DC fast charger.
