Mahindra's Verito Electric was displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo. The company might launch the electric vehicle for the Indian market in the coming months.
Named as the 'e-Verito', the new car is the electric version of the Verito sedan. It is a fully electric vehicle that was spied testing several times before and Mahindra has finally unveiled the production version at the motor show. Cosmetically, it is same as the standard Verito sedan but gets additional 'Automatic', ‘Powered by Reva’, ‘ME’ and 'Electric' badges to differentiate it from the regular car.
In this electric variant, the engine is replaced by an electric AC motor that produces 29kW (39bhp) of power. This is different from the 19kW motor powering the e2o hatchback. The chassis and body is carried over from the Verito sedan. The Mahindra Verito Electric is capable of doing a top speed of 86kmph and run for 100kms on a full charge. It takes six hours to avail the full range while a quick charge takes two hours.
The e-Verito is a car with no noise and has an environment-friendly powertrain. Mahindra is all gung-ho about its new car launch strategy and the electric Verito is also a part of this plan. It will be launched before the end of this year and will be slotted over the diesel variant of the Verito when launched.
