Mahindra has said that it will launch the Verito CS before the end of March 2013. This news was confirmed by Dr Pawan Goenka in reply to a question regarding launch and looks by Indianautosblog team on Twitter. Dr Goenka’s replied “I like it. Launch should happen before March end.”
The Mahindra Verito CS is the Indian SUV major’s entry into the sub-four metre sedan market which is currently dominated by cars like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Tata Indigo eCS. It will be their second sub-four metre model after the Quanto.
Since, the CS is essentially a chopped version of the Verito; we can expect that Mahindra will retain the same front as the latter was facelifted just a few months ago. From the side the car will look different due to the change in proportions. However, the major change will be at the back where Mahindra is likely to re-design the boot and the lamp cluster to differentiate the CS from its larger sibling.
It is almost certain that Mahindra will chop the boot and retain the same interior dimensions as well as features to sell the car on a ‘lots inside for very little money’ strategy.
The Verito CS will be powered by the extremely frugal 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that originally sat in the Logan and now powers almost all of Renault and Nissan’s diesel cars. We can expect that Mahindra will ideally maintain the same suspension setup as the redution in the overall weight of the car will not be much.
The price is expected to be similar to that of the Tata Indigo eCS (Rs 4.8 to Rs 6.2 lakh) making it a good deal for the cost-conscious customer as well as the fleet market where the Logan is very popular.
