The sub-four meter Mahindra Verito has been in news for a while. Mainly because the launch of the compact car is overdue and there is still no official date from Mahindra. While we wait for further details (also on the Reva e2o), here is another spy shot of the car from Chennai.
The Verito CS looks more like notchback than a proper sedan. It based on the same funda that is used in the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and Tata Indigo CS – chop-off the boot so that the car is less than 4000mm long. This couple with appropriate engine capacity (less than 1.5-litre diesel or 1.2-litre petrol), it is defined as a small car that gets tax benefits and hence competitive pricing.
The car will be powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K Renault diesel engine, which is used in the Verito. There might be few tweaks to improve the efficiency a bit, but the power rating will remain the same at 65bhp and 160Nm. There is a possibility that Mahindra might not launch a petrol version, as they do not have a gasoline unit with less than 1.2-litre capacity.
Mahindra is expected to launch the Verito CS before end of March with a price tag that will pitch is directly against the Tata Indigo CS.
