Mahindra has launched a special edition for the Scorpio SUV, and this time from a previous page in the vehicle’s history. The special edition closely resembles the variant introduced in 2010 and features a number of exclusive features that are currently unavailable in the SUV’s options list.
The embellishments include tan and beige leather on the interiors, steering and gear knob, roof mounted DVD player and 9inch screen, wood finished central console, dual front airbags and a newly sculpted alloy wheels with chrome finish. These added features are an addition to the existing feature list of the VLX variant. The car also gets special edition decals and badging on the exterior that help in quickly identifying the edition, all of which resemble the previous edition launched during the 2010 Auto Expo.
No modifications to the underpinnings as expected, and so the Scorpio special edition will also be powered by the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that delivers 122PS power and 290Nm of torque mated to a five-gear manual transmission.
This special edition is targeted at the upcoming festive season, and Mahindra has announced its decision to limit the production of this edition to 500 examples. There is no official statement on the price tag the SUV will bear and on whether the model will be available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive layout, depending on which the car will be priced between Rs 11.80 lakh and Rs 12.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
