Mahindra has unveiled the first sketches of the TUV 3OO compact SUV (codenamed U301). It is the first in a new range of vehicles from the Mumbai-based manufacturer and will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines.
The sketches reveal a Bolero(ish) design language with the familiar Mahindra fascia but in a sub four-metre avatar. Unlike their previous attempt at going under the crucial measurement mark, this vehicle looks far more proportionate in terms of size.
Spy pictures have revealed what the completed cabin looks like. It has all the standard Mahindra features and elements that have been seen on vehicles like the Scorpio as well as the XUV500 which were launched in 2014 and May 2015 respectively. It will be powered by a new set of advanced mHawk 80 series of engines that have been developed by the Indian automaker in-house.
The TUV 3OO is expected to arrive at a crucial time when things have begun to look strong in the compact SUV segment for the Indian market. The launch, we suspect, has been saved for the 2015 Auto Expo. The TUV 3OO will compete with the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta.
