- Body is almost production-ready
- Occupant-testing phase indicates the final stages of testing
Mahindra’s new MPV, codenamed the U321, has been spotted testing yet another time. In spite of the heavy camouflage, the overall body looks pretty much production ready and the unveiling of the car should be around the corner.
Also, with Mahindra’s own Xylo in the background, the U321 gets a reference perspective and unlike the body-on-frame Xylo, this one is quite low slung. In terms of height, it matches the Toyota Innova or the Tata Hexa, the seven-seat MPVs the U321 has been built to compete with.
It is expected to get plush interiors and will be offered with a number of features like the XUV 500. The 2.2-litre common rail diesel powertrain is certainly an option but if the U321 is able to rein in the weighing scale, the 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-diesel from the TUV300 might also be an efficient option along with the AMT gearbox.
