Mahindra launched the TUV300 in 2015 and shortly after, the car maker launched an early update version of the TUV300. The TUV300 is a compact SUV with the potential to haul seven passengers. Recently, a bigger version of the TUV300 was spotted testing in Mettupalayam, Tamil Nadu. The bigger SUV might very well be called the ‘TUV500’.
Spy pictures of the car’s rear exterior suggest that the vehicle carries the same boxy personality as its younger sibling, the TUV300. The images also indicate that the TUV500 bears a silhouette similar to the TUV300. It is fair to say that the TUV500 has grown in proportion from the sub-four meter compact SUV.
The larger SUV is expected to be powered by the same mHAWK-100 1.5-litre engine housed in the top spec variant of the TUV300. The manufacturer may also offer the same optional AMT unit as seen on TUV300.
Thanks to its larger dimensions, the TUV500 will offer a roomier cabin than its younger sibling. A front facing bench seat is also expected to be fitted in the third row, and may comfortably accommodate three passengers unlike the jump-seats of the TUV300.
There is no official word from Mahindra so far, but the SUV in works is expected to be launched by the festive season. When launched, the TUV500 will be placed above the TUV300 and will rival with the MPVs in the segment.
