The Mahindra TUV300 compact SUV has been spotted sans camouflage less than two weeks before its launch in the Indian market on September 10. The photos appear to have been taken during a photoshoot for the compact SUV.
The pictures reveal a typical Mahindra boxy design with a forward sloping stance and low roofline. The fascia gets the chrome-laced slatted grille which for the first time appears to sport a new design. The hood is straight and the bumper gets a wide air dam under the grille.
Moving over to the side, we can see the low roofline, very softly flared square wheel arches and what appears to be 15-inch wheels for this top-spec version. There are rub rails towards the bottom and some black cladding for the third row’s windows which gives the impression of a floating roofline.
The rear gets a tailgate- mounted spare wheel which adds well to the SUV appearance of the TUV300. There are wraparound tail lamps and a step indicating that the third row will have side facing seats.
The Mahindra TUV300 will be a powered by the new mHAWK 80 series of engines which we believe is a reworked version of the 1.5-litre three-pot mill powering the Quanto. It is likely to have the same output but is likely to be offered with an AMT in addition to the five-speed manual. The former was showcased by the Mumbai-based automaker at the 2014 Auto Expo.
We have already seen pictures of the interior and know that Mahindra has used common parts from its other models to design the cabin of the TUV300.
It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh and from next year onwards be exported to markets in Latin America, Gulf and Australia.
