Mahindra is all set to launch the facelifted model of their most successful SUV, the Scorpio, tomorrow, in Mumbai. After lots of speculations and spy pictures being shared on the internet, the day has finally come, when the SUV will see a major update since its last facelift in 2006.
The new Scorpio is expected to get projector headlamps, a new chrome grille, fog lamps and alloy wheels. The top-end variant will get projector headlamps with DRLs, new bumper with fog lamps, a chrome grille and newly designed alloy wheels.
At the rear, the new Scorpio will sport LED tail lamps, which looks quite nice. The Christmas tree for the rear is replaced by black grab rails making the rear look tacky. The tailgate gets a new design with matte black paint around the registration plate. There are no changes to the rear bumper and spoiler, while the tailgate hinges are still visible.
The new Scorpio is expected to be powered by the same 2.5-litre m2DiCr 75bhp and the 2.2-litre mHawk 120bhp engines. The engine specifications will become clearer after the vehicle is launched tomorrow. The company had started taking bookings a few days ago on snapdeal.com, through which we got to know that the SUV will be sold in five variants - S2, S4, S6, S8 and S10.
While the latest spy pictures have revealed most of the details of the new Scorpio, there is a mixed reaction on the web. But the success of this new SUV will depend on the price, which we expect to be the same as the outgoing model.
We will be there at the launch event tomorrow. Stay tuned to CarWale for the on-road price, features, speculations and photos.
