Mahindra will launch the NuvoSport crossover in India tomorrow. This is a new vehicle from the Mumbai-based automaker and is expected to replace the Quanto in its lineup.
On the design front, the face gets a new aggressive grille, LED DRL eyebrows and a contrast coloured bash plate element. The side includes new alloy wheels, black rub rails and flared wheel arches. At the back, most of the Quanto’s design has been retained but now with a smaller glass area and a black bumper. The NuvoSport represents a move by Mahindra to take the Quanto’s MUV origins and now give it a more SUV like appearance.
Spy pics of the cabin have revealed typical Mahindra design which includes beige and black colour scheme, large three-spoke steering wheel and jump seats in the third row. Reports suggest that the car will be offered with an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 2-DIN touchscreen infotainment system and possibly cruise control.
The NuvoSport will be offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 99bhp and 240Nm of torque in the power mode and 71bhp/180Nm in the economy mode. It will be offered with a five-speed manual but we can also expect an AMT variant.
We believe that the NuvoSport will be priced in the range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh and will compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and its own sibling the TUV300. Given that this and TUV300 will be in the similar price range, we believe that Mahindra is using a strategy of offering multiple body styles to boost overall volumes.
