Mahindra will launch a new version of the KUV100 on 10 October. This new version is coming just 1.5-years after the Indian automaker launched its smallest vehicle in the Indian market and is in essence a crucial update for the model.
It will be called the KUV100 NXT and sees the pseudo SUV get cosmetic updates as well as an improved feature list. It has already arrived at dealerships and is expected to go on sale as soon as it is launched.
The exterior updates come in the form of new alloy wheels and a massively revised front grille which has given the car a crossover(ish) appearance. The overall layout of the cabin has been retained but the dashboard has got a revised design with glossy plastics and chrome inserts. However, the biggest addition is that the KUV100 in some variant will be offered with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. We expect that the 2-DIN music system that’s on offer with the current car will become a standard equipment on the lower spec variants.
Mechanically, the KUV100 will remain unchanged with a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2-litre diesel on offer. Both engines are only offered with a five-speed manual. However, since the arrival of the KUV in the Indian market automatics have become prominent and we expect that Mahindra will make some kind of announcement with regard to an AMT for the model.
The KUV100 is Mahindra’s B-segment competitor and takes on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10, Nissan Micra, Toyota Etios Liva and the Etios Cross. Of these, the Etios Cross is the closest in terms of body style to the KUV100.
