Mahindra is rumoured to be working on an upgraded version of the XUV500. The flagship SUV of the Indian UV major was launched in 2011 and was an instant hit. In fact it became so successful that twice till date Mahindra has had to stop taking bookings and ramp up production to complete deliveries. However, despite the success, Mahindra received a significant number of complaints with regard to various issues on the SUV and is now upgrading it based on customer feedback.
Cartoq reports that Mahindra will significantly improve the brakes though it should be noted that the XUV already has disc brakes on all four wheels as well as ABS. The infotainment and voice command system is also expected to get an upgrade and will most likely be the unit that was introduced on the facelifted Xylo last year.
The report also says that the SUV will get a few other minor improvements but has not given any specific details in this regard. The overall design and engine options are all expected to remain the same as the old model.
Cartoq says Mahindra will launch the upgraded XUV500 without much fanfare (silently it says) at the end of February and those who are to take delivery of the SUV will get the upgraded version. Stay tuned to CarWale as we will bring you details as soon as they emerge.
