Mahindra and Mahindra has today announced that it will hike all passenger vehicles' prices from July 1. The cars will be costlier by Rs 36,000 with the implementation of the new safety norms.
The AIS 145 Safety Norms will be implemented at the start of the coming month. It mandates the fitment of many safety features like a driver airbag, seat-belts reminder, over-speed alerts and rear parking sensors. As a result, vehicles which lacked this equipment will now get these features as standard, resulting in the price increase.
The carmaker has not specified the exact hike, as this will vary from model to model and also depend upon the variant. SUVs like the Bolero, KUV100 NXT, Scorpio and TUV300 will see a substantial rise in costs. Meanwhile, the XUV500 and the Marazzo models will also be expensive, but with a marginal increase in price. All the variant-wise prices of passenger cars will be available across all authorised Mahindra dealerships.
