For a while now Mahindra has been testing the new-generation Thar in India. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Mahindra CJ3A off-roader, the popular Indian utility vehicle manufacturer will soon introduce the Thar Signature special edition, which will be limited to 700 units and it will get special features and cosmetic detailing.
To distinguish it from the regular model, the Mahindra Thar Signature Edition gets a black grille that compliments the aqua blue body colour. The special edition SUV will get alloy wheels, ABS and EBD as standard along with leather seat covers for the driver and the passenger. Additionally, to justify its moniker, the Thar Signature Edition will get additional decals on the sides along with Anand Mahindra, the group chairman’s signature on the right side fender.
Mechanically, the SUV will continue to be powered by the 2.5-litre CRDe four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 105bhp and 247Nm of peak torque. The fairly powered engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
As for pricing, the Mahindra Thar Signature Edition is likely to demand a premium over the current model
