Mahindra Thar has withstood the test of time and has been one of the most successful off-roaders of all times. In an effort to further strengthen the foothold in its segment, the upcoming Thar facelift has been spotted on test. Based on what can be seen, the new Thar appears to be a bit wider and sportier than the existing model.
It is believed that the second-gen Mahindra Thar will be based on a new chassis that complies with the new safety and emission norms. The new model will further be powered by a BS-VI compliant diesel engine mated to a four-wheel drive system with locking differentials. The vehicle will also get an independent suspension system on the front to offer an enhanced drive experience over its predecessor.
Based on what can be seen, the new gen Mahindra Thar gets CJ5 –inspired styling elements. The vehicle also gets a seven-slat grille with circular headlamps and rectangular indicators on the fenders. Furthermore, it gets a fabric top, side steps and a side-hinged tailgate. More details about the vehicle will be known in the days to come.
