Mahindra has finally introduced the Thar Roxx, also known as the Thar five-door, in the country with prices starting at Rs. 12.99 lakh for the petrol range and Rs 13.99 lakh for the diesel range (all prices, ex-showroom) in the 4x2 guise for the MX variant. This iteration builds on the strengths of the three-door Thar while offering the practicality of two additional doors and a bench seat layout for the second row.
Powertrains
In terms of powertrain options, the Thar Roxx comes with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, mStallion turbo-petrol engine producing 160bhp and 330Nm of torque. Also up for offer is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, mHawk diesel engine generating 150bhp and 330Nm of torque. Customers can choose from six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
Design highlights
On the outside, the 2024 Mahindra Thar Roxx gets a new grille, C-shaped LED DRLs, projector headlamps, circular fog lights, dual-tone alloy wheels, and rear-door-mounted handles. At the rear, it receives rectangular LED taillights and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
Step inside the new Thar Roxx and you will notice a plethora of features such as the new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, fully digital colour instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and dual-tone upholstery. Competition
The Thar Roxx will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, and the Toyota Hyryder but with full off-road kit and boxy SUV looks!
