- The Thar five-door, now called the Thar Roxx, will be launched on 15 August
- Panoramic sunroof likely to be on offer
Just a few days ago, Mahindra surprised us by christening the five-door Thar as the Thar Roxx. The price announcement of this Force Gurkha five-door-rival is scheduled to take place on 15 August, with deliveries likely to begin shortly after.
Another surprise came in the form of the brand revealing the exterior design of the Mahindra Thar Roxx. A quick look at the car shown in the video reveals key exterior features of the lifestyle SUV which will also compete against the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, and the Skoda Kushaq.
Compared to the three-door iteration, the Thar five-door or the Thar Roxx gets a revised fascia which includes a new design for the grille, circular LED DRLs integrated into the projector headlamp setup, circular fog lights, and minor revisions to the bumper. Notably, the grille also houses a front camera.
A few elements such as the fender-mounted turn indicators, front door-mounted ORVMs with the ‘Thar’ branding’, chunky wheel cladding, and side steps have been carried over. Simultaneously, there are updates in the form of machined alloy wheels, larger wheelbase, C-pillar-mounted body coloured rear door handles, and a rear quarter glass. The side profile also benefits from the signature 4x4 badging, while the posterior features a C-shaped brake light with the new LED taillights.
While Mahindra is yet to reveal the interior and the complete feature list, we expect the 2024 Thar Roxx to boast a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, ADAS suite, dual-zone climate control, fully digital instrument console, larger touchscreen infotainment system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
