Mahindra has taken the stage at the 2018 Auto Expo with many concepts. One of them is the Stinger Concept, which is a sub-four-metre convertible crossover. It basically a design study and we don’t expect it to go into production anytime soon.
Mahindra likes to bring in a showstopper to the Auto Expo stage. Last time it was the stylish XUV Aero. The Aero was a coupe-crossover version of the XUV but it never saw the light of day. This time around, the Stinger Concept serves as a design study for the future Mahindra products but won’t hit the production line just like the Aero.
Measuring under four metres, the Stinger is also based on the TUV. The signature seven-slat Mahindra grille dominates the fascia while wraparound headlights with LED signature looks futuristic. The aggressive bumpers, massively flared wheel arches and the body cladding make it look very quirky especially without a conventional roofline. The rear tail lights are again stylish with a minimalistic and futuristic appearance. The rollover loops stand out as well.
Mahindra hasn't revealed any powertrain details of the Stinger since its only a design study. Mahindra is expected to gauge the response the Stinger garners at the Expo. On that basis, if the Stinger receives a green signal for production, it would become the first ambitious product from an Indian carmaker.
