Mahindra has released a teaser of the updated Scorpio that is expected to be launched by the end of this month. Bookings of the refreshed Scorpio have started yesterday for an amount of Rs 20,000.
The teaser shows the new DRLs of the revamped Scorpio which confirms this most speculated feature of the vehicle. The test mules spied testing on various occasions were camouflaged not letting out these details earlier. This facelifted Scorpio will get a new grille and headlamps. The design of the bumpers might be slightly changed while the alloy wheels get a new design. This design looks better than the ones the top-end variant of the present Scorpio has. At the back of the car, tail lamps will be changed to LED ones, nevertheless continuing with the Christmas tree arrangement.
The interiors have been slightly updated in terms of both- layout and design. Mahindra seems to have worked majorly on improving the quality of the upholstery in the upcoming car. The most evident change is the steering wheel borrowed from the XUV 500. The car sports a new dashboard and a stylish instrument cluster with silver accents and a small rectangular digital screen in between.
The revamped Scorpio might be powered by the same engine that the outgoing version has, i.e., the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine that produces 120bhp of power. The vehicle will be a front-wheel drive with these engines mated to new five- and six-speed gearboxes. Media speculations also suggest that the 140bhp mill from the XUV 500 mated to a six-speed-manual transmission might be housed under the hood of the 2014 variant. Nevertheless, Mahindra might refine the engine while making it less noisy like the Ssangyong Rexton.
Mahindra's popular SUV, the Scorpio, has been selling in decent numbers and with the new Scorpio coming in, the sales for this vehicle are only expected to go up. The manufacturer has reportedly built an inventory of 5,000 units before launching this Scorpio for the Indian market. This should help the company reduce the waiting period for the new Scorpio that is expected to go on sale by the end of this month.
