Mahindra’s year-to-date sales starting April 2018 have increased marginally over the corresponding period in 2017. Mahindra managed to sell 177,074 units in these nine months compared to the 176,875 units last year. The December sales, at 15,091 units, are actually 3 per cent lower than those of December 2017.
The year 2018, overall, has been a tough one for the automotive market, especially the latter half. After the mid-year sales rally, the market has shrunk again owing to fiscal tightening, rising fuel costs and low market sentiment. Yet, Mahindra’s steady performance is thanks to the introduction of new products like the Marazzo. The SUV-maker will also launch the all-new XUV300 in February to compete in the compact-SUV segment.
Mahindra is also working on the all-new Thar as well as the new Scorpio, both of which should be out testing in 2019 for a 2020 launch.
