Mahindra’s new Scorpio (codenamed W105) might be launched in a few days. A source mentions that about 100 units have been rolling out of the assembly line since August 1. The company wants to ensure that it has enough units of the SUV before its launch.
Mahindra learnt it the hard way, when they launched the XUV 500, some dealerships reported a waiting period of upto 15 months. Mahindra is reportedly building an inventory of 5,000 units before launching the Scorpio. The Scorpio is a popular SUV in India and has a big fan base in the urban and rural markets. Mahindra has been selling a little more than 4,000 units a month and with the launch of the new model, it is expected to add more clicks to that number.
If we calculate a 100 units rolling out of the assembly line, our guess is the company would have close to 2,600 units by the end of month (calculating 26 working days). A calculated guess on factoring the target of 5,000 pre-launch units suggest that the Scorpio might arrive anytime before November.
We shall wait for an official confirmation from Mahindra and Mahindra, but our guess is the Scorpio may arrive a couple of weeks before the festive season of Diwali.
