Mahindra has been busy making enough Scorpios since its launch and while we knew a four-wheel drive variant would soon follow, the company has silently introduced it. The four-wheel-drive model will be sold with the S4+ badge.
The S4+ will be placed above the two-wheel drive S4 variant, but will get safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt-reminder warning and panic brake indication. Additionally it will also get follow-me-home headlamps as standard. There would be no cosmetic additions and the Scorpio S4+ 4WD will get black side claddings and steel wheels like the S2 and S4.
The S4+ might cost at least one lakh rupees more than the two-wheel drive S4 variant and that is a brilliant price for the car. In comparison the Duster RxL AWD costs Rs 11.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), which makes the Scorpio a more VFM proposition. The savings of over Rs one lakh cannot be overlooked and it seems like Mahindra has played the price card well.
