Mahindra and Mahindra recently announced an 8 per cent increase in total sales at 39,200 units in December 2017. The carmaker had sold 36,464 vehicles in the same month in 2016.
Also, in the domestic market sales were up 7 per cent for the automaker. They sold 36,979 vehicles last month compared to 34,411 units in December 2016. However, this includes commercial vehicles too. Unfortunately, the passenger vehicle segment saw a drop of 7 per cent in sales with 15,543 units as compared to 16,799 units in the year-ago period.
On the positive side, commercial vehicle sales were up by 24 per cent at 17,542 units in December 2017 as against 14,154 units in December 2016. The exports also grew 8 per cent to 2,221 units last month as against 2,053 units in December 2016. We can expect Mahindra to launch a few new cars including an upcoming MPV (U321) for the Indian market. Let's hope some of these new products help the carmaker to increase the sales in their passenger vehicle category.
