Mahindra’s compact SUV, the S101, has been spied testing again. The car has already been spotted testing multiple times and this time, the pictures posted on Team-bhp do not reveal much of the specifications; however, we can gauge some details from them.
The heavily camouflaged test vehicle will be a sub-four metre crossover that will go up against the Ford EcoSport. It will be smaller than the XUV 500 and the Scorpio and will share a few components with the Quanto. The car with a tall design will offer a decent amount of headroom for all passengers and has circular headlights and horizontal round tail lamps.
The S101 will be powered by a new set of engines jointly developed by Mahindra and its Korean partner Ssangyong. The vehicle will be front-wheel-drive with these engines mated to new five- and six-speed gearboxes.
Mahindra plans to enter into the rapidly expanding compact SUV segment with the launch of the S101. With continuous tests being done, we can expect the carmaker to bring this vehicle to the Indian car market after mid-2014.
