Ford EcoSport competitor and Mahindra’s much-awaited S101 compact SUV has been spotted on test yet again in South India. The car which is expected to be introduced next year is being tested continuously by the manufacturer.
The heavily camouflaged vehicle doesn’t reveal much of the details, however, this time we can see rectangular shaped headlamp inserts containing the circular headlights rather than the conventional round lights seen earlier. The tail-lamps are also different from the test lights that were seen before. The compact vehicle will be introduced as a sub-four metre SUV, slotting it in between the Quanto compact MPV and the Scorpio SUV. The S101 will be based on a brand new monocoque platform jointly developed by Mahindra and Ssangyong. It is expected to share a few components with the Quanto.
The S101 will be powered by a brand new pair of petrol and diesel engines – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel units mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Power will be sent to the front wheels.
Currently, the Ford EcoSport same problem here dominates the compact SUV segment in India which is rapidly expanding with different manufacturers developing new products. Knowing Mahindra to offer space in their vehicles and price a product atat a competitive price, the company should attract many buyers when this upcoming model is launched sometime early next year.
