Mahindra is testing their new sub-four metre compact SUV, the S101, in the hilly regions of Ladakh. The camouflaged vehicle was spotted in Leh hinting that the manufacturer is carrying out cold-weather testing.
The new Mahindra S101 is based on an all-new monocoque platform. Though the car will be small in size, it is expected to give an SUV-like experience. The styling elements will borrow traits from its elder sibling- the XUV 500. The car will give the occupants a high seating position while the ground clearance of the vehicle is also expected to be kept high.
The S101 is expected to be powered by the newly developed three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. These engine configurations will come mated to a manual transmission and will be front-wheel drive.
The Mahindra S101's primary rival will be the Ford EcoSport. The vehicle will compete with the other cars in the compact SUV segment and is expected to be launched by next year in India.
