The Mahindra S 101 compact crossover has been rendered by the team at Autocar India. From the pictures it pretty much seems that the S 101 will be a smaller version of the XUV500 and is expected to use many of its design cues as well as features.
However, what will be new is the mill as the underpinnings. It is expected to be a front-wheel drive sub-four metre monocoque bodied vehicle and will be powered by a set of four-cylinder petrol and diesel mills displacing between 75 to 100bhp. Mahindra is also believed to be developing a new set of six-speed gearboxes to go with the engines.
The report also suggests that the vehicle will be offered in a six-seater design as well as an eight-seater design of which the latter seems doubtful due to the compact size of the vehicle. However, the pictures reveal that there is no centre console, allowing for three people to sit in front.
The S 101 is a part of Mahindra’s new range of front-wheel drive vehicle which is expected to include a sedan and will be launched within the next few years.
