Mahindra is likely to launch the Reva E2O early next year. The compact electric vehicle was supposed to be launched this year but due to undisclosed reasons, the Indian SUV major the company has deferred the launch to early 2013. This news was disclosed on Mahindra Reva’s official twitter page when a follower asked about the launch dates.
The E2O is a two-door four-seater car. It will be powered by a 29kw electric motor (39.4bhp) that uses 48-volt compact lithium ion batteries. The company had earlier decided to launch the EV with lead-acid batteries but has now scrapped the plan in favour of leasing the batteries to the buyers; making it a part of the running cost of the car. The E2O will have a range of around 160km and a top speed of 105kmph.
The car is likely to be priced between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh and will be the first car to roll out from Mahindra Reva’s new green facility outside Bengaluru.
