Mahindra has announced that the Reva e2o electric vehicle will be launched on March 18. The confirmation comes within days of the 2013-14 Budget, where government extended the concession on the import of key components for the hybrid and electric cars.
The e2o was unveiled as the Reva NXR at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. Designed by DC Designs, the new electric car is bigger, more spacious and faster with longer range than the Revai. The e2o is a sensible alternative to motorcycles for crowded urban commutes with the running cost nearly the same and protection for the occupants from the elements.
Commenting on the announcement, Dr Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said, “We are delighted to announce the launch of the e2o, which will mark a significant milestone in Mahindra’s automotive journey. Electric vehicles today epitomize clean and green driving and Mahindra wants to take the lead in developing this segment and its surrounding eco system. We are humbled with the kind of feedback we have received so far on the e2o, which reaffirms our conviction to remain committed and invested in this segment”.
