Mahindra and Mahindra sold 24,060 units in October 2015 as compared to the 20,255 units sold in October 2014, registering a 19 per cent growth in sales over last year. Utility vehicles, SUVs and MUVs, have been Mahindra’s forte with their sales at 22,664 units contributing to roughly 94 per cent of total sales.
Mahindra auto sector sales numbers that includes commercial vehicles as well as exports grew by 20 per cent from 42,780 to 51,383 units. Pravin Shah, president and chief executive M&M, attributed the jump in sales to the festive season. The drop in interest rates as well as low fuel prices coupled with the launch of the new XUV5OO and the TUV3OO helped to push the numbers further.
The year to date sales have dipped marginally over last year but this can be attributed to the shift in the festive season towards the end of the calendar. The sales figures will certainly continue the upward trend with Diwali coming in mid-November and Christmas in December.
