- The passenger vehicles segment sold 26,555 vehicles in March 2018
- Altogether, the Mahindra Auto Division sold 62,077 vehicles in March 2018 compared to 56,202 vehicles in March 2017
- And in the financial year 2017-18, it sold 5,49,154 units, thus registering a growth of eight per cent
- Domestic sales stand at 58,653 vehicles – that’s a growth of 10 per cent
- Three new product launches in the coming year
Mahindra has managed to sell a total of 62,077 vehicles in March 2018 including the passenger and commercial vehicles. The Indian carmaker registered a growth of 10 per cent over March 2017 when the sales figures stood at 56,202 units. The passenger vehicle segment managed a growth of four per cent having sold 26,555 units in March. The domestic sales stand at 58,653 vehicles with a growth of 10 per cent. On the other hand, exports were clocked to the tune of 3,424 units, with an impressive growth of 26 per cent.
The Mumbai-based carmaker has ended this financial year with an overall growth of eight per cent. The carmaker also crossed the five lakh annual sales mark after five years. The auto sales stood at 5,49,154 vehicles in financial year 2018 compared to 5,07,598 vehicles in FY2017.
Rajan Wadhera, president, automotive sector, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, commenting on the monthly performance, said, “We are extremely happy to have achieved a sales milestone of five lakh plus units during the last financial year, with an overall growth of eight per cent. This is a testimony to the good performance of both passenger as well as commercial vehicles. We are particularly buoyed by the growth of our truck business, which has outperformed the industry. With three of our critical new automotive launches lined up in FY19, we are confident of increasing our market share in the utility vehicle space”.
The three new vehicles rolling out this year from Mahindra’s stable will be the XUV500 facelift, the all-new U321 MPV and the rebadged G4 Ssangyong Rexton. The refreshed XUV500 will be revealed in the coming months. Meanwhile, the U321 MPV has been testing for a year now. Mahindra showcased the Rexton at the 2018 Auto Expo, but we expect the renamed flagship SUV to be launched in the country during the festive season later this year.
