Mahindra has recalled few XUV500s over defective alloy wheels. As per a report on team-bhp, few customers have complained that their vehicles’ alloy wheel breaks off inexplicably when the car is in motion.
These customers mentioned that these alloy wheels broke off without any external impact. However, these wheels do not come with the XUV500 and are provided under optional accessories list by the company. These speed rims are available at all dealerships where they sell the XUV500.
After lot of complaints, Mahindra started investigating this issue and found it to be a serious one. The company has asked the dealerships to contact the concerned customers. Owners, who have fitted their XUV500 with this speed-rim alloy wheels, can take their car to the service centres for inspection. If the serial number stamped on the wheels matches that of the defective batch, Mahindra will replace them with new ones free of cost. Since these wheels aren't OEM, there is a probability that Mahindra might not issue an official recall.
