India’s leading utility vehicle giant Mahindra has announced a recall for the XUV 500. In a bid to make its flagship SUV safer than ever, the brand has announced an upgrade for the side curtain airbag software on vehicles manufactured on or before July 2014.
Mahindra has revealed that the upgrade will be carried out free of cost for customers who will be individually contacted by the company. Furthermore, this upgrade will be limited only to a software change and no parts will be replaced. Mahindra is proactively upgrading the airbag software to ensure the benefits of new software to pre-existing customers. Incidentally, this is also in keeping with SIAM’s voluntary code on vehicle recall.
Software update aside, Mahindra is making no other changes to the XUV 500 over this recall.
