Mahindra has recalled 2,300 units of various cars to fix a problem with the vacuum pump in engines. Vehicles like the Scorpio, XUV 500 and the Xylo are part of this recall.
As per Mahindra, the recall is limited to the vehicles, which were manufactured in May 2014. The company is in the process of contacting owners of the affected vehicles and will be asking them to bring their cars to the nearest dealerships. The inspection and replacement of defective parts would be done free of cost.
"The inspection is limited to approximately 2,300 vehicles of Scorpio (Vlx/Sle/Lx), XUV500 W4/W6/W8 and Xylo H9/H8/H4 variants," PTI quoted the company as saying.
Over the last few months, lot of other manufacturers have recalled some of their vehicles to fix a problem. Earlier, only certain companies carried this recall, however, after SIAM implemented “Voluntary Code on Vehicle Recall”, things have changed, drastically and we welcome that.
