The Mahindra Group will be the first Indian motorcycle manufacturer to enter a team into the FIM Road Racing World Championship (MotoGP). The team will be competing in the 125cc category with riders Danny Webb from the UK and Marcel Schrötter from Germany in the 2011 season.
Both the riders were geared up to go and when Danny was asked about his association with the Mahindra Racing Team he said, "Though it is a new team, we have a lot of backing from the company and both me and Marcel have been enjoying our stint here. We will try our best this year as regards the Championship."
Mahindra’s entry to the MotoGP Championship follows its acquisition of Engines Engineering of Italy. When asked about the two riders Alberto Strazzari, CEO, Engines Engeneering said, "Both the riders are good and have experience at the MotoGP level. We look forward to some great races from March." He went ahead to say that racing in the 125 cc category will be discontinued from the next season and the team will be moving on to compete in the 250 cc category.
