Mahindra’s compact MUV the Quanto is turning out be its star performer of the year. The Indian SUV major has already got over 10,000 bookings within just two months of the compact MUV being launched.
To meet the growing demand and ideally keep waiting periods to a minimum, Mahindra will ramp up the production from 2500 units to 3500 units of the Quanto at its Nashik plant from January 2013. Pravin Shah, chief executive - automotive division, said “We are delighted that the Quanto has received over 10,000 bookings in a span of two months and we are thankful to our customers for this overwhelming response.”
The Quanto is powered by 1.5-litre 3-cylinder diesel twin-turbo mill producing 100bhp and 240Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and rides on 205/65/15 tyres. It is available in four variants C2, C4, C6 and C8 with prices starting at Rs 6.09 lakh (average ex-showroom).
It is likely that Mahindra’s success has been due to the MUV launching just around the start of the festival season as well as the fact that it offers many more features than its closest rivals for a similar price.
